Tall, Dark, and Dead – 47 – Zombie Nightmare

Title: Zombie Nightmare
Year: 1986
Director: Jack Bravman
Leads: Adam West, John Mikl Thor, Tia Carrere

Favorite quote: “I’m sorry, but my religion forbids interspecies mating.”

Thoughts: The most terrifying thing in this movie was the zombie’s manboobs. I never thought I’d type those words. Then again, I never thought I’d be making major money off of my knowledge of how walking corpses function, so there you go.

And it’s a shame we didn’t get to see more of the manboob zombie in this flick, because he had the potential to be very interesting. He was a controlled, voodoo-model, non-cannibalistic vigilante dead guy with a legitimate gripe against the people he was directed to shamble murderously after. Sounds like my cup of tea. They even threw in a new element – energy loss after each kill. Fantastic! Let us live together forever!

Unfortunately, instead we got more shots of Adam West in a fake moustache than I ever thought I could reasonably stomach. I’m stronger than I look. (Love you, Adam.) It was almost a relief when his character was dragged down to Hell by demonic zombie hordes (or were they voodoo zombies who had completed their tasks and remained zombies in Hell? I’m confused).

As Josh said, “I am going to mount a grenade launcher on my Beretta.” Reasonable response to this movie. Quite reasonable.
